The Foreign Press Association has petitioned Israel’s supreme court to let journalists back into Gaza.
Israel’s border region with Gaza – and the only pedestrian crossing into the territory – was completely closed to reporters at the weekend as air strikes against Hamas targets got underway.
“Never before have journalists been prevented from doing their work in this way,” the FPA – which represents 400 reporters – said in an open letter. “Israel must allow professional journalists access to this important story.”
The petition will be heard in court later today.
