A journalist has won the race to be the new controller of Radio 4 – former director of BBC World Service English Gwyneth Williams.
She has had numerous jobs in news and current affairs since joining the BBC as a trainee in 1976. Read the full press release here.
According to The Guardian, top BBC journalists Robert Peston and Mark Lawson were also in the frame for the job and were interviewed. I suspect with these things there is some weird BBC target for interviewing a diverse range of candidates which getting Pesto and Lawson in will have satisfied.
Williams will also be in charge of BBC Radio 7.
