ITV News to run ‘instant poll’ on tomorrow’s election debate

By admin

ITV News will run an ‘instant poll’on tomorrow’s live party-leader debate to update viewers on voters’ reactions to what the main political leaders have said.

The broadcaster has teamed up with the polling company ComRes to ask viewers for their views immediately after the first ever pre-election prime-ministerial debate.

The result of the poll will be revealed on the ITV News at Ten after tomorrow’s debate. The process will be repeated for each of the two remaining debates.

An instant telephone poll will ask 1,000 members of the public who they thought ‘won’the debate, which party they plan to vote for, and then two questions on specific subjects raised in the individual debates.

ComRes will also run a ‘worm poll’employing a panel of 20 undecided voters – in two marginal constituencies – to report their changing views as the debates progress on handsets that feeds back to the debate programme.

Earlier this week Sky News said it would report voter reactions to the party leaders’ performance in the TV debates instantly online after joining forces with two specialist research companies.
