Independent: New jobs at The Sun make launch of Sunday edition more likely

By admin

The launch of a Sunday edition of The Sun has been made more likely by the fact that a number of new senior positions have been created at the paper for former News of the World staff, the Independent reports.

According to the Independent, former News of the World chief features writer Jane Atkinson has been found a job at The Sun as has former political editor for the paper Dave Wooding. Other former NoW staffers said to be targeted for Sun roles include Stephen Moyes, Daniel Jones and Matthew Drake – The Independent reports.

Former deputy editor of the News of the World Victorian Newton has already been given a job in charge of the Saturday edition of The Sun.

The Independent quotes a News International spokeswoman: “There are no plans to launch a Sunday version of The Sun at the moment.”
