Guardian signs cartoonist Andrew Marlton as part of Australian expansion

By Press Gazette

The Guardian has signed cartoonist Andrew Marlton to contribute to the Australian, UK and US editions of the title.
Marlton joins the Guardian from Crikey, where he has been the full-time editorial cartoonist since 2007.
His cartoons – called First Dog on the Moon – will illustrate the Australian and international news issues of the day, the Guardian has announced.
Marlton said: "When I was growing up I always wanted to be Steve Bell and work at the Guardian. To be on the same roster as a cartoonist of Mr Bell's calibre, to become part of the fabulous team at Guardian Australia is more than I could have ever hoped for as a cartoonist and marsupial enthusiast. This is going to be hilarious."
Last month the Guardian announced it would open a third Australian office in Melbourne to support its expansion.
