Search giant Google has appointed Madhav Chinnappa, BBC News’ head of development and rights, to its partnership team.
Google told PaidContent that Chinnappa would be its first person to focus on European Google News partnerships with ‘a specific focus on helping publishers get the most out of Google News”.
The search giant has a notoriously difficult relationship with newspapers and broadcasters.
Despite the conciliatory noises often made by Google, news publishers and owners often boil over.
None more famous perhaps than when Rupert Murdoch last year accused search engines of stealing his newspaper content and threatened to prevent them from linking his websites.
