The Guardian had a good night at the British Press Awards last night picking up three prizes, but Guardian Media Group chief Executive Carolyn McCall also enjoyed awards success being named the Veuve Cliquot Businesswoman of the Year.
Management Today, whose editor sat on the judging panel, reports that McCall picked up the gong during a testing time as Tesco – whose board she sits on as a non-executive director – is currently suing The Guardian for malicious falsehood and libel.
According to the Independent, however, Tesco has insisted that it will not pressure McCall to step down despite the libel row.
