The Afghan President has pledged not to sign a warrant for the execution of student journalist Sayed Pervez Kambaksh who was sentenced to death for blasphemy, reports The Independent.
Kambaksh was accused of distributing material which criticised the attitude towards women.
His brother Yaqub Ibrahim, a journalist for Western media, told a press conference in Paris yesterday that he had been granted an appeal. He is on a European tour to drum up support for the release of Kambakash.
