Gavin Millar QC says Mosley privacy action will have chilling effect on media

Not all leading media law QCs are on the side of Mr Justice Eady, it would seem. Gavin Millar, writing for Index on Censorship, says Max Mosley’s privacy action against the News of the World will have a “wider chilling effect on press freedom”.

He says: “There is a very real threat that editors will start spiking formerly routine stories for fear that the lawyers will pounce.”
