The FT’s Alphaville blog has won the inaugural online journalism prize at the Harold Wincott Awards, the annual ceremony recognising the best in financial journalism.
The paper’s New York-based capital markets correspondent Saskia Scholtes also won an award, for junior journalist of the year.
Paul Murphy, editor of FT Alphaville, said: ‘The Wincott Awards are as prestigious as it gets in British financial journalism. The FT Alphaville team are rather proud to be named the inaugural winner in the online category.
“As for financial blogging – a relatively new form of financial journalism – we’re pleased to see that the Wincott Foundation trustees ‘get it’.”
Alphaville has also been shortlisted for best business blog in the 2008 Webby Awards. The winners will be announced on 6 May.
