First success in Daily Mail’s bag campaign

Marks and Spencers has taken up the Daily Mail’s challenge to charge 5p for plastic bags in all its 600 stores, according to the paper today.

The Mail launched its campaign yesterday with nine pages of coverage – and seven today – the paper’s biggest campaign for some time. If anyone was in doubt of the paper’s influence, they are surely not now.

Even a Guardian journalist has supported the campaign – MediaGuardian’s Chris Tryhorn signalled his backing yesterday.
