The Midland News Association, publisher of Britain’s best selling regional newspaper the Express & Star, has appointed its first communications manager.
Chris Leggett, MNA’s electronic editor in charge of online content since 2006, takes up the newly-created brand and communications manager on 5 March.
A statement released this week said:
Chris will take responsibility for the positive promotion of the MNA brands, which also include Britain’s fifth highest selling evening newspaper the Shropshire Star as well as weekly newspapers in the West Midlands, Shropshire and surrounding counties.
He will oversee communication with readers, advertisers, business leaders and staff.
MNA managing director Phil Inman said:
Chris’s appointment will be vital as we implement a fresh strategy to reinforce the MNA’s value as a force for good in the communities it serves.
The MNA continues to be a publishing success story, with the Express & Star and Shropshire Star producing same-day newspapers which reach nearly 900,000 readers every week.
We recognise that promoting the strength of these brands as well as the many others in the portfolio, both internally and outside the company, will be a cornerstone of future success.
Leggett added:
I look forward to highlighting the high standards which the teams across the MNA achieve on a daily basis.
We have many good stories to put across and I will be promoting the MNA’s work across the community.
