The Financial Times has announced that Janan Ganesh, a political correspondent at The Economist, will join its team of columnists on 1 August.
After five years at the Economist, Ganesh joins the FT with a weekly column focusing on British politics, which will be published every Tuesday.
He will also contribute to FT.com and FT Weekend, as well as appearing as a weekly guest on BBC’s Sunday Politics show and BBC 4’s Westminster Hour.
Lionel Barber, editor of the Financial Times, said: ‘Janan is a rising star in political journalism in the UK right now and I am delighted he will be joining the FT. His commentary has become a ‘must read’ and I am sure FT readers will relish reading his weekly columns and online commentary.”
Ganesh previously co-authored Compassionate Conservatism with Jesse Norman in 2006 and is currently writing a biography of George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, which will be released later this year.
Before joining the Economist, Ganesh worked in the Westminster think-tank Policy Exchange.
