Denis O’Brien’s Independent stake exceeds 20%

Independent News & Media’s rebel shareholder, Denis O’Brien, has once again upped his stake in the publisher.

The Communicorp boss has broken the 20 per cent mark, increasing his shareholding from 19.35 per cent to 21.17 per cent, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The group is expected to post increased profits for 2007 when it publishes its results on Thursday.

Update 25/3: O’Brien has again raised his stake, to 22.15 per cent.
