Daily Record in redundancy talks with four senior editorial figures

By andrew

Trinity Mirror is reportedly holding redundancy talks with four senior editorial figures at the Daily Record, according to All Media Scotland.

The news comes a month after Trinity announced plans to merge the Scottish Daily Record and Sunday Mail with sister company Scottish and Universal Newspapers.

It resulted in the departure of Bruce Waddell, who had been editor-in-chief of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail for the last eight years.

Allan Rennie, the editorial development director for Trinity Mirror Nationals, replaced him as editor-in-chief of the new company.

In August Trinity confirmed that 85 journalists had lost their jobs at the Daily Record and the Sunday Mail as part of an editorial restructure that saw the design and subbing of magazine and features content outsourced to the Press Association.

A spokesman for Trinity commented: “We can confirm we have entered into a confidential period of consultation with four senior members of staff from Media Scotland.”
