The Daily Mirror is today adding Simon’s Cat, which gained great popularity on YouTube, to the roster of cartoons it features in its pages each day.

Simon’s Cat has amassed 116 million views on YouTube, building up a large and loyal fan base which the Mirror will hope to tap into by featuring the cartoon six days a week and tying its creator Simon Tofield into a three-year worldwide syndication deal.

Fergus McKenna, Mirror’s head of syndication and licensing, said:

“We are delighted to announce this exclusive new deal with Simon’s Cat and we are confident the cartoon strip will become a firm favourite with our readers.”

The YouTube phenomenon will appear underneath long time favourite Andy Capp in the pages of the Daily Mirror as the paper also announced today that it is set to bring back its superhero cartoon Garth after a series of requests from readers to end his 14-year hiatus.
