Councils snoop on 1,000 people a day

By Patrick

The Daily Telegraph reports today that 122 local authorities, as well as police and the intelligence services, have been listening to the phone calls and intercepting emails of up to 1,000 people every day.

A report by Sir Paul Kennedy, the Interceptions of Communications Commissioner, found that in some cases the phones of innocent people were tapped due to simple administrative errors.

The news may be of interest to journalists who could well wonder if their conversations have been listened to.

The Telegraph also has a short video on the story.
