City AM boosts circulation by 30,000 with push into commuter belt

By admin

London free business daily City AM has increased its average circulation from around 110,000 to just over 130,00 by expanding distribution further into the commuter belt.

Here’s the press release:

CITY A.M., London’s business newspaper, recorded a major leap in its ABC-audited distribution from 100,668 in April to 132,076 in May.

The 30% increase follows a carefully planned expansion in the availability of the newspaper, targeting primarily the affluent commuter belt in the South and South West and doubling the number of stations where City AM is available from 105 to 212.

The move has been welcomed by media agencies. Group M managing director of print trading Steve Goodman said: ‘The result, while expected, is a fantastic achievement. The additional 30 per cent of circulation CITY AM has added proves that there is a massive appetite for this kind of in-depth focused city editorial and the fact that these copies are now being picked up further afield also means this highly desirable audience potentially has the opportunity to engage with this title for an even longer time.”

CITY A.M. CEO Jens Torpe said: ‘All research and numerous requests have shown that there is a large potential audience of senior business people in the Home Counties, provided City AM is made available at the stations where they start their morning commute.  Following a very strong start to the year, we thought that the timing was right for taking a major step forward.

“We have hardly seen any drop in our normal pick-up in the City and West End during May. This also indicates that we have added a significant number of new readers to our audience during the past month.”
