A Hong Kong journalist accused of spying has been released from Chinese jail, in a show of pre Olympics clemency by the Beijing authorities, reports The Times.
Ching Cheong, 58, the chief China correspondent for The Straits Times in Singapore was arrested in April 2005 and sentenced to five years in prison on charges of spying for Taiwan.
At least 35 Chinese journalists remain behind bars.
