Buyers to be identified for News International’s Wapping HQ

By Patrick

News International’s departure from its Wapping home in east London is firmly underway, reports MediaGuardian.

The sale of the sprawling home to The Sun and The Times for 22 years could be finalised within two months, according to group MD Clive Milner.

The company hopes to have a shortlist of buyers completed by next month, by which point printing at Wapping will have ended and moved to the company’s vast Broxbourne printing plant in north London and two plants in Merseyside and Glasgow.

Wapping could be used for commercial or residential developments or a mixture, but in any case is expected to be sold for a very large figure.

NI’s search for a new home for its editorial teams remains underway.
