Burton Mail campaign draws global attention online

By Martin Stabe wirepost

The Burton Mail is reaching a global audience with its campaign to save a museum celebrating the area’s brewing heritage.

The Mail is calling on brewing giant Coors to reverse a decision to close the Coors Visitor Centre, previously known as the Bass Museum.

The campaign has been picked up by the Denver Post, in the American brewing firm’s home state of Colorado, and the Mail says the more than 1,200 people who have signed its online petition on BurtonMail.co.uk have come from all over the world.

There is also an online poll and a group on the social networking site Facebook calling for the museum to stay open. Local politicians and the Campaign for Real Ale are supporting the paper’s campaign.
