Broadcast journalism student scores scoop with Nazi initiation ceremony

By Dominic wireposts

Well done to University of Gloucestershire broadcast journalism student Natalie Sutton who secured a scoop with the BBC yesterday with her video footage of a student intiation ceremony involving students downing pints of beer with carrier bags over their heads directed by another student in Nazi garb.

It’s been followed up absolutely everywhere today – proving that anything which means you can put the word Nazi in a headline is always going to make for good copy.

Mind you, it was fairly tame compared to some of the stuff that used to go on at Newcastle University when I was there in the early 1990s. The rugby club used to initiate new recruits by forcing them to drink pints of wee and the agricultural students used to do truly disgusting things involving severed animal heads.
