Bloggers won’t replace columnists, says Jenkins

Today saw another round of interviews at the House of Lords Communications Committee, as part of their on-going investigation into media ownership.

Former Times editor Simon Jenkins told peers that blogs are no substitute for traditional newspaper columnists,

Earlier, Spectator publisher and former Sunday Times editor Andrew Neil gave his view on his old boss Rupert Murdoch.

Media Guardian commentator and former Daily Mirror editor Roy Greenslade, also a former Sun assistant editor, was on hand gave his take on the News Corp man.

They both contradicted Sun editor Rebekah Wade, who gave evidence to the committee last week, who said that Murdoch does not intervene in the paper’s content.
