BBC Monitoring, which employs 400 staff to monitor material produced in 400 languages around the world, could be facing closure – the Independent reports.
It reports that the £25m annual cabinet office grant it receives could be cut in the autumn spending review potentially tipping BBC Monitoring into insolvency. The Caversham-based unit provides digests of global journalism for government and commercial clients.
