The Chorley Guardian bagged another scoop when it covered the 02 Media awards held to recognise journalism in the North West of England last week.
BBC North West Tonight’s Dave Guest won Broadcast Journalist of the Year for the series of interviews he carried out with Jessica Knight, a schoolgirl who nearly died after being stabbed repeatedly while walking through a park in Lancashire. Knight attended the event to give Guest his award.
Chorley Guardian journalist Natalie Banks spoke to Knight afterwards and discovered that she had received £19,000 in compensation – £800 per wound.
The front page story was followed up by the Mirror, Star, Sun, Daily Mail, Daily Exppress, BBC and others.
