The Australian Associated Press has today confirmed its tie-up with the Daily and Sunday Telegraph – following reports over the weekend that production of some of the papers’ weekend supplements was being outsourced to the Australian national news agency.
Pagemasters, the production arm of AAP, said in a release this morning that it will be sub-editing 150 pages of the Telegraph titles every week from Sydney – its four biggest sub-editing contract win.
Pagemasters managing director Bruce Davidson said: “This is a ground-breaking decision that further establishes Pagemasters as an important part of newspaper editorial production, not just in Australia and New Zealand, but now on a global basis.”
AAP chief executive Clive Marshall said the company had received enquiries from newspapers around the world considering outsourcing their sub-editing and production.
Who’ll be next? And what will Simon Heffer make of it all?
