Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger went head to head with Sunday Times editor John Witherow last night in a live discussion recorded for today’s Media Show on Radio 4.
It was a fascinating insight into the debate around charging for news online as The Times and Sunday Times get set to launch Operation Paywall.
Rusbridger remains convinced that his ad-funded free model can work while Witherow is determined to save his title’s journalism by making readers pay for it online.
It’s a fascinating debate and one that anyone who works in journalism has a vested interest in.
One thing we can all agree on is, let’s hope one of them is right.
