Al Jazeera English plans new push into United States

Al Jazeera English is to increase its coverage of the United States and will share more resources with its Arabic-language sister channel as it seeks to control costs while making a push for more viewers in North America.

AJE’s new managing director, the former CBC editor-in-chief Tony Burman, told the International Herald Tribune that the group plans to invest in new bureaux.

Burman also insisted that t English and Arabic services will retain seperate identities despite increased collaboration, including the sharing of equipment.
