Huddersfield Daily Examiner digital journalist Adrian Sudbury has met with Prime Minster Gordon Brown and other government ministers in his effort to increase awareness about the shortage of bone marrow donors.
The Examiner has published a video about Sudbury’s meeting with Brown on its web site.
The journalist, who is terminally ill with leukaemia, has made it his “dying wish” to increase awareness of the shortage of bone marrow donors by asking people to register as donors. He is also calling on the Government to add ensure that students in sixth forms and colleges have a short talk once a year about the issue, what is involved in being a donor and how they can sign up.
Sudbury was was diagnosed 18 months ago and has been chronicling his experiences since then on his website Blady’s Blog.
Health Secretary Alan Johnson, who met with Sudbury earlier this week, described ist as “an honour and a privilege” to have met him.
