New deputy editor at Grazia

Former More editor Marianne Jones has been made deputy editor of Emap's Grazia as Carole Watson becomes head of features at the Daily Mirror.

Grazia editor Jane Bruton said an associate editor responsible for news and showbusiness will be appointed in due course and that the editorial mix on the title remained the same despite Watson's departure.

Watson was poached from the News of the World features desk to head up the newsdesk at Grazia's inception.

Jones previously worked as features editor at Marie Claire before launching the Daily Mirror's M magazine as assistant editor. She joined Emap as More editor in 2001 and went on to be a consultant editor within the company. She has been associate editor of Emap's weekly glossy since before its launch in February 2005.

Bruton said: "Marianne gets very involved with news anyway because that's our heartland. She has worked with Carole and everyone on the desk getting the tone right. She's been here way before launch and has a unique understanding of our core values. Her tone and style are exactly right for Grazia."
