More! goes online as Emap pumps £3m into title

By Press Gazette

More! has unveiled the team behind its first official website.

The launch of moremagazine.co.uk, dubbed a “lunchtime fix” of gossip, glamour and shopping, coincides with a £3m revamp and repositioning of the magazine in a bid to boost sales.

More!’s circulation tumbled 15.1 per cent to 246,261 in the ABCs released earlier this month.

The website aims to appeal to More!’s readership, which exceeds 900,000.

Targeting women aged 16 to 24, it hopes to bridge the gap between teenage websites and those aimed at women in their 20s. It will cover fashion and beauty, sex and relationships, celebrities, men and gossip, as well as offering a dating service.

Carmel Hayes, development director at Emap Elan, is website publisher, having overseen the launch of Red magazine’s website and the relaunch of newwoman.co.uk.

Ben Wilson, who worked on the Bliss website, is deputy editor and Michelle Mullins is designer/producer alongside Donald Howard. Mullins has also worked on web projects for BBC Choice, Waitrose and Mercedes-Benz. Howard has worked for smashhits.net, sneakmagazine.co.uk and newwoman.co.uk. The team includes feature writer Tanya Blackwell and news writer Emma Hoddinott, both of whom also worked on the New Woman website.

Commenting on the launch, Hayes added: “It’s the perfect escape from a day at work.”
