Catherine Monk is the new editor of Build It, the monthly magazine for people who dream of building, converting or renovating their own home. She has previously worked on Education Management and was asked by the Department for Education and Skills to revamp Teachers magazine.
Monk said the magazine would be redesigned. “I have plans to develop Build It so that it appeals to newcomers to the renovating and self-build market, helping them to make their dream homes come true,” she added.
Monk has also worked for Euromoney and EuroBusiness and has written for titles including Campaign, Management Today, The Scotsman and the Daily Mirror.

She is a DIY enthusiast, has renovated three houses and hopes to build her own in the future.
She replaces Martyn Hocking, who became deputy editor of Golf Monthly at the end of last month.
