The merger of Scotland’s largest independent TV production companies will bring together two of the country’s highest-profile media couples.
The new company, IWC Media, combines Wark Clements and Ideal World. Wark Clements is controlled by BBC Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark and her husband Alan Clements, and Ideal World is controlled by broadcaster Muriel Gray and her husband Hamish Barbour.
The companies will merge in May and IWC Media will be ranked the 15th biggest independent in the UK based on turnover.
One of the major forces behind the merger is the growing consolidation of media companies in the UK.
Although Wark Clements had a turnover of £9.4m last year, its income was due to rise after signing a multimillion pound deal with Setanta Sport, an Irish-based digital TV channel, for live broadcasting of Scottish Premier League football matches.
