Magazines ‘worst hit by ad decline as 319 fewer in circulation than in 2009’

By admin

The magazine industry has been hit considerably harder by the advertising crash than other media resulting in 319 fewer titles in circulation in Britain now than in 2009, according to a report.

Quoting figures from the International Federation of the Periodical Press annual report, Media Week reported the number of magazines published in the UK in 2010 dropped by 319 (more than ten per cent) to 2,924.

Part of this rapid decline can be attributed to advertising expenditure in UK magazines sector falling from £980m in 2009 to 920m this year.
