King of the Castle by Martin Plimmer

Former national newspaper journalist Martin Plimmer gives a humorous account of a year surrounded by trails of teenagers, builders and a disgruntled wife. Plimmer was half of the comedy duo The Men Who Know. His topical comments appeared in The Times, Sunday Sport and The Observer.
British Environment & Media Awards
The BEMAs reward the best in environmental reporting and campaigning. There are categories for TV, print, radio and new media. Closing date for entries is 7 August. Winners will pick up their awards at a dinner at Vinopolis in London on 22 October.

World Young Reader Prize
The World Association of Newspapers is inviting entries for its World Young Reader Prize, awarded to the paper with the most innovative scheme to attract young readers. The prize rewards educational programmes and projects to develop lifelong readers. The prize is a trip to the World Young Reader Conference in Helsinki. Deadline for entries is 1 July.
