Saturday sales of the Gloucestershire Echo had a sales boost after it launched two titles.
In
October the Northcliffe daily introduced a 12-page community news and
pictures supplement, The Voice , which saw figures increase by 3 per
cent.
Then in January it launched a 48- page Weekend magazine and
Saturday sales increased overall by 7.5 per cent year on year, despite
a 5p price hike.
Anita Syvret, editor of the Cheltenham-based
title, said: “Traditionally Saturday has not been a big sale day but
that is changing.
“We recognise our readers have different buying
habits on Saturdays and we attract once-a-week readers who want
something different.”
Three months since the launch of the first title sales have now levelled out at 4.8 per cent higher than before.
The paper’s Saturday’s figure is now above 23,000, which is a higher figure than on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
