The Independent fastest growing national press website in January, increasing its daily traffic by more than 100 per cent to 1.2m ‘unique browsers’ according to ABC.
The Mail Online was the second fastest growing site – and still the biggest – with 8m unique browsers a day.
Second most popular UK national newspaper website The Guardian hailed a record month for digital traffic and cited Comscore figures to claim that it had 12.5m unique users in the USA in January (which is said was ahead of the BBC). The Guardian claimed 11.3m video views worldwide in January and 15.9m monthly unique browsers via mobile.
ABC’s national newspaper website monthly total’s for January have Mail Online with 126.7m unique browsers, Guardian.co.uk on 77.9m unique browsers, The Telegraph on 61.4m, The Sun on 30.7m, The Independent on 25.2m, Metro on 6m and Standard.co.uk on 4.7m.
But it is worth noting that the monthly unique browsers totals are likely to be inflated by browsers deleting ‘cookies’ over the course of the month and being counted more than once.
