The Hull Daily Mail lead the way at this year’s Regional Press Awards after scooping five prizes.
Reporter Nicky Harley was named both specialist writer of the year and won scoop of the year, while Catherine Lea picked up business and finance journalist of the year.
The paper also picked up specialist supplement of the year and Ian Bond won designer of the year.
The Derby Evening Telegraph’s Steve Hall was named editor of the year and the Belfast Telegraph won daily/Sunday newspaper of the year (above 25k), with the Cambridge winning daily/Sunday newspaper of the year (below 25k).
The Essex Chronicle picked up weekly newspaper of the year (above 20k) the Northern Scot won weekly newspaper of the year (below 20k)
Adam Wakelin, who left the Leicester Mercury earlier this year, won features writer of the year for second time.
The Croydon Advertiser’s Gareth Davies won weekly reporter of the year, and Sunday Life’s John McGurk won daily/Sunday reporter of the year.
