The Daily Express used pages one, two and three today to inform readers that a businessman has written a book.
The decision to give so much coverage to Richard Desmond’s autobiography may be linked to the fact that he is the owner of Express Newspapers.
The report reveals that “a host of famous famous faces from the worlds of media, politics and entertainment converged on Claridges” for the “glitzy” book launch event.
It notes that The Real Deal charts Desmond’s rise from “hard up youngster working in Woolworths to billionaire media mogul”.
The Express also details how readers can order a copy of The Real Deal: The Autobiography of Britain’s Most Controversial Media Mogul by calling the Express Bookshop or sending a cheque to Real Deal Offer, PO Box 200.
The book-launch news also made page two of Desmond’s other newspaper, the Daily Star.
In 2011 the Daily Star and Daily Express both ran front page stories revealing the launch of the Richard Desmond-backed Health Lottery.
A complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority was rejected has being outside the regulator’s remit.
