Whatever must ‘disgusted of Tunbridge Wells’ make of Local World’s latest crass attempt to boost web traffic?

By Axegrinder

Axegrinder shudders to think what ‘disgusted of Tunbridge Wells’ makes of the latest online traffic-chasing wheeze on the website of the Kent and Sussex Courier.

Last week it treated readers to a selection of its favourite ‘Yo Mama’ jokes. No local angle, and no explanation given on why a title covering an affluent area of Kent was suddenly writing ‘yo mama’ instead of ‘your mother’.

Favourites of the Courier (which were published specially in advance of Mother's Day) include:

Yo momma's so fat, that when she fell, no one was laughing but the ground was cracking up.

Yo mamma is so fat she doesn't need the internet, because she's already world wide.

Yo mama so fat every time she walks she does the Harlem shake.

It will come as no surprise to regular readers of Axegrinder that the Courier is published by Local World, which appears to encourage this sort of thing.

It is the publisher which has previously brought us: What time is tonight’s episode of EastEnders on, from the Exeter Express And Echo, and the Maidstone & Medway News publishing a story about leaked online celebrity nude pictures (with no local angle).

Any other examples of local news websites crassly chasing traffic will be gratefull received and shared.
