Sri Lanka’s Free Media Movement (FMM) has condemned a public statement by the Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksha in which he supported media censorship and the return of criminal defamation.
“We fear that this chilling warning from a Defense Secretary with unbridled power without, evidently, sound judgment, is the latest significant threat to the freedom of expression and media freedom in Sri Lanka,” FMM said.
