Mail’s plastic carrier campaign is in the bag

By Axegrinder axeblog

The Daily Mail was able to claim an early victory on day two of its commendable campaign to “Banish the Bags” when Marks & Spencer announced it was to stop offering free plastic bags.

Axegrinder felt that it was a bit of topspin for the Mail to claim that it had brought about the Marks & Sparks rethink on bags.

As long ago as May 2007, the retailer announced a trial in Northern Ireland where it charged for bags to encourage customers to instead use a “bag for life”, as part of a plan to improve its green credentials.
