Columnist Cook under starter’s orders for Post

By Press Gazette

Cook: horse racing enthusiast

Former Foreign Secretary Robin Cook has been signed up as a columnist by the Racing Post.

Cook already writes regular comment pieces for The Independent and is a long-standing racing enthusiast.

Racing Post deputy editor Nick Godfrey said: “Robin is a great signing for us – he’s renowned as one of the most passionate supporters of racing in Parliament, and we’re delighted to add him to our team. However, given that he’s such a great enthusiast for the sport, I think he’s as excited about the prospect as we are.

“While Robin will examine the political issues of the day within a racing context, we have given him the widest of briefs.

“He can, and will, write about whatever he likes, from any issues that affect racing in a parliamentary context to what he fancies in the 2.30 at Sedgefield.”

His one-page column will appear once a month, starting this week.
