The British Society of Magazine editors has announced the shortlist for its annual Editors’ Editor of the year award.
The finalists are: Lisa Burrow of Closer, Sue James from Woman & Home, Jeremy Langmead from Esquire, Sue Peart from You Magazine and Morgan Rees from Men’s Health.
In a tough year for magazine circulations overall, three of the shortlisted editors managed to grow their sales. In the first six months of this year Closer rose 0.6 per cent to 530,371, Woman & Home was up four per cent to 350,212 and Men’s Health rose 2.1 per cent to 250,247, making it the top selling UK men’s magazine.
Esquire fared less well, dropping 9.3 per cent 52,705. You Magazine is only available as a supplement with the Mail on Sunday.
The shortlist was drawn up after voting by the full membership of the BSME and now they will vote again to decide the winner. The BSME awards are being held at the London Hilton on 10 November.
