C5's commitments

* News target of 469 hours per year, or nine hours each week;

* Continuing its style of news presentation that aims to be “fresh, direct and less formal” than other broadcasters;

* Continue offering viewers comprehensive hourly news updates in peak time, seven days a week;

* Avoid going to the obvious political spokesman, but speak instead to those affected by the news events and decisions;

* Current affairs programming target of 130 hours a year, or two hours and 30 minutes each week;

* At least eight hours of fast-turnaround documentary to be

broadcast along the lines of the Life After Paddington, the Bulger Story and Concorde shown in 2000;

* Current affairs to include a documentary about John Prescott;

* Continue giving viewers the opportunity to comment on current issues through its popular current affairs show, The Wright Stuff.
