Birmingham Mail offers booze for headline writers

By Martin Stabe wirepost

The editor of the Birmingham Mail is offering “a bottle of classy wine” each day this week to the reader who can come up with the funniest front-page headline for the day’s paper.

“I challenge you all to write better page 1 splash headlines than appear in the print edition of the Birmingham Mail each day from Monday March 24 to Saturday March 29,” Steve Dyson writes on his blog.

Entrants need to write a funny headline for the main page 1 story each day which must fit into the space available. The overall winner for the week gets a bottle of champagne.
