Zee TV subscribers to get own title

By Press Gazette

Zee TV, the Hindi and Englishlanguage Asian broadcaster, is launching a magazine for its subscribers.

Zee Magazine aims to target both the traditional Asian and the younger Anglo-Asian members of the UK Asian community.

The editorial content is expected to be wide ranging, covering fashion, property, finance, art and music, sport, food, travel and comedy as well as previews of highlights from Zee TV.

The 128-page title will be published quarterly by Profile Pursuit and will feature interviews with Asian luminaries such as Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan and chef Sanjeev Kapoor.

Edited by former Mirror reporter Brigit Grant, the first issue in June also includes an article on the Cricket Club of India, the Asian speed-dating phenomenon, the musical Bombay Dreams and a behind-the-scenes look at Zee News.

Zee TV has more than 100,000 subscribers in the UK and claims the magazine has a potential readership of one million. Sunil Rohra, chief executive officer of Zee Network UK and Europe, said: “With our huge subscriber base, it will undoubtedly be the largest Asian magazine in the UK.”

The network began broadcasting in the UK in 1995 and provides four channels – Zee News, Zee Music, Zee Cinema and Alpha Punjabi.
