Veteran foreign correspondent Charles Wheeler will return to BBC screens in November.
He will present a one-off daytime documentary to mark the 40th anniversary of the death of US President John F Kennedy.
Wheeler, who was BBC News Washington correspondent for more than 30 years, will front JFK – Legend and Leader, a 30-minute special on BBC One, commissioned from the BBC News team.
Wheeler was a BBC correspondent in Germany in 1963 and covered Kennedy’s historic visit to Berlin in June of that year – including the President’s famous “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech.
In the documentary, Wheeler travels to the US and Germany to meet key figures of the Sixties to discuss the significance of JFK’s death, its impact on the world, and the public’s continued fascination with the Kennedy legend.
The film was produced by BBC News 24’s Elliot Choueka.
