Washington business beat for FT’s Chaffin

Joshua Chaffin has been made the Financial Times’s Washington business correspondent. He will cover the Justice Department.

and various business and financial regulatory bodies and lobbying groups. Starting at the paper in 1999, he has been a banking correspondent and a capital markets and hedge fund reporter. Previously, he worked for a business magazine in Mexico City and then a financial newswire in New York.

The Financial Times’s US managing editor, Lionel Barber, said: “Joshua is an outstanding young reporter, who has broken several big exclusives on Wall Street, Enron and the Martha Stewart affair.

“I am confident he will quickly make his mark in Washington.” Chaffin replaces Peter Spiegel who has become the Financial Times’s defence correspondent.
