Vine gets ideal job on Theatregoer

By Press Gazette

Former Woman’s Journal editor Deirdre Vine has become editor of Theatregoer magazine.

Vine, who has recently been working as a freelance editorial consultant, said it was “the most wonderful job since it links my two abiding interests – magazines and theatre”.

Theatregoer has a circulation of more than 80,000 and is distributed monthly to audiences in 14 West End theatres. It carries listings as well as news, previews and interviews.

Vine edited Woman’s Journal for 10 years before leaving in 1997 declaring she did not want to be “an institution”. She was also editor of teen magazine 19 and of Eve Pollard’s women’s glossy Aura.

Vine was a member of the National Youth Theatre and turned down a place at drama school to go to University. She has also worked for the Shaw Theatre and Young Vic. Theatregoer is published by Axon Publishing on behalf of The Really Useful Group.
